Sarah Deutsch
Sarah Deutsch is Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Verizon. In this capacity, she deals with global Internet policy issues, including privacy, liability, intellectual property policy and Internet jurisdiction. Her areas of expertise include the registration and enforcement of patents, trademarks, copyrights and intellectual property law and policy.
Ms. Deutsch served as the Private Sector Advisor to the U.S. delegation to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) 1996 Conference on WIPO Copyright Treaties. She was appointed to this role by the U.S. Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks. Ms. Deutsch also served as a negotiator for the telecommunications industry in the discussions which resulted in the passage of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. She currently represents Verizon in a variety of issues spanning from the Hague Convention to U.S. Internet legislation.
