Dr. Joseph Turow is the Robert Lewis Shayon Professor of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication. His work on the internet, marketing and society has received a great deal of attention throughout both the media and the research community. He has written numerous articles and several books on mass media, and has contributed to American Demographics magazine and The Los Angeles Times. Dr. Turow has received financial support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Wood Johnson Foundation, Kaiser Family Foundation, Federal Communications Commission, as well as other organizations.Dr. Turow is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, the Sage Annual Review of Communication Research, and New Media and Society. He holds a B.A. in English, an M.A. in Communications and a Ph.D. in Communications, all from the University of Pennsylvania.
